Common Questions

Neurodiversity embraces the natural variations in how our brains function, recognizing and valuing the diverse ways individuals experience the world, including conditions like ADHD and autism

Autism is a neurological condition that affects social interaction, communication, and behavior, often presenting as a spectrum with varying strengths and challenges

ADHD, or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by challenges in sustaining attention, impulse control, and hyperactivity, impacting daily functioning

This put simply is the diagnostic process for both ASD/ADHD. In Liverpool these are separate pathways but there are plans to join these into a neurological pathway as these often overlap.

The DSM 5 is the Diagnostic and statisticsal manual of mental disorders, put simply it is the framework for which a diagnosis for Autism can be given. There are set criteria for a diagnosis which are laid out within the manual.

Paediatricians are doctors who manage medical conditions affecting infants, children and young people. Community Paediatrics – these doctors are based in the community and look after children with developmental, social or behavioural problems and those with a physical disability.

EHAT is a tool used for gathering information and a standard approach in assessment for the identification of Early Help needs. The EHAT helps practitioners to gather and understand information about the needs and strengths of children and the family.

An education, health and care (EHC) plan is for children and young people aged up to 25 who need more support than is available through special educational needs support.

Our mission is to create communities of support across Merseyside for people facing neurodivergent paths which enable personal and professional development.
